Edu Manzano retracts tweet about Noynoy Aquino and Grace Lee

Actor and former Optical Media Board Chair Edu Manzano by this time must have learned to “think before you tweet.” At 2:37 PM Thursday afternoon, Manzano wrote on Twitter: “PNoy and Grace Lee spotted at Promenade Greenhills today. In the middle of the day. To be fair, it IS a nice day for a leisurely stroll.”

Edu Manzano wrote via Twitter: “PNoy and Grace Lee spotted at Promenade Greenhills today. In the middle of the day. To be fair, it IS a nice day for a leisurely stroll.”

Manzano is obviously being sarcastic since much of Metro Manila is currently experiencing torrential rain showers and thunder storms due to a low pressure area. An hour later, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda chided Manzano for spreading “tsismis” (gossip).

He explained that President Aquino is presiding over a National Economic Development Authority board meeting and that it is still ongoing by the time he made the tweet. This means that the meeting has lasted for more than five hours.

After an hour, Manzano retracted what he wrote, saying: “Pnoy was NOT in Promenade with Grace Lee today. It was unconfirmed gossip, and I was overeager. I deserve all the backlash. Lesson learned.” He added: “Sorry for the confusion, everyone. In local parlance, “nakuryente” ako, and I was foolish to tweet unconfirmed chismis.”

Manzano later retracted his earlier tweet: “Pnoy was NOT in Promenade with Grace Lee today. It was unconfirmed gossip, and I was overeager. I deserve all the backlash. Lesson learned.”

As of posting time, Manzano has not stated where he got the information about Aquino’s supposed strolling with Grace Lee. In 2010, Manzano ran as the running-mate of Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro. He has not indicated so far any plans regarding the 2013 midterm polls.

Early this week, an article about “Noynoying” appeared in the Wall Street Journal. The act involves sitting around and staring into space. “The important thing is that you’re doing nothing,” Activist Vencer Crisostomo told the WSJ. The article mentioned Aquino’s partying with actress Valerie Concepcion at the height of Typhoon Sendong last December as proof of his hands-off leadership style.

Ang nakakahiya, sa harap ng mga tao, kitang-kita kang nagkasala. It’s a mortal sin to Bear False Witness Against Your Neighbors.

Stupid washed-up ham actor over-eager to act like a bitchy tabloid showbiz reporter! And although he retracted and said sorry, didn’t have the balls to direct his apologies to PNoy whom he obviously wanted to malign by his unverified, malicious intent. Mr. Manzano, we have already judged you – we don’t want you as our leader, be it in a local, provincial or national capacity simply because you don’t have any leadership quality. Stop fooling yourself by having the delusion that you can lead. You can’t even “act” to lead. So do yourself a favor and stick on being a showbiz personality so we can just turn-off the tv or not go to your movies if we don’t want your services.
