September 12 2012 Lipa City Holiday – National Pilgrimage Day

September 12 2012, which falls on a Wednesday, is a non-working holiday in Lipa City, Batangas. The announcement was made by the Office of the President through Proclamation 463 upon the request of Lipa City Mayor Meynardo Sabili. The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa last August 25. Click here to read the full text of Proclamation 463.

Thousands of devotees are expected to flock to the said Southern Luzon city on the said day to take part in the 9th annual National Marian Pilgrimage day. September 12 has since been declared as the National Day of Prayer and Reparation for World Peace and Sanctification of the Clergy.

This yearly gathering, which was started by Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles in 2004, is supported by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
